The Silver Samurai

One of the more intriguing characters in the Marvel universe is the Silver Samurai. This, he did to dishonor Wolverine in front of his daughter Mariko Yashida who was Wolverine’s lover and fiancee. After the death of Shingen Yashida, the Silver Samurai attempted to wrest the control of Clan Yashida from Mariko, his half-sister. During a feast to celebrate Wolverine and Mariko’s wedding, the Silver Samurai and Viper used poison on the X-Men. However, his plans were thwarted by Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, and Yukio.

Later, the Silver Samurai would join forces with Wolverine to subdue the mad powers of the Black Blade of Muramasa. In the process, they rescued Jessica Drew and the Silver Samurai gained a powerful weapon. Apparently, this turn of good deed caused the Silver Samurai to survey the landscape from the other side. When he assumed leadership of Clan Yashida after Mariko was assassinated, the Silver Samurai chose to raise the clan’s honor. For a while, he was even enlisted by the Japanese government to lead the group of superheroes known as Big Hero 6. However, the Silver Samurai turned to the dark side once again after he regained leadership of Clan Yashida, which he had lost to Haan Kaishek, a Mongolian crime lord.

Trained in the ways of a great samurai, he can use a variety of weapons such as the katana, shuriken, and others. Dressed in steel alloy plate samurai armor, he’s almost a knight in shining armor, thus, he earned his title, the Silver Samurai. Combined with his mutant powers which enable him to harness a tachyon energy field, he can cut through almost anything when he channels this power through his katana.
